Relational Trauma

Relational trauma isn’t caused by one single event. It is the slow, cumulative impact of relationships that left you feeling unseen, unsafe, or emotionally alone. It can happen in families where love was conditional, emotions were dismissed, or boundaries were blurred. It can also result from other relationships that mirrored these patterns, ones where you felt small, silenced, or responsible for someone else’s feelings.

Even years later, the body and mind remember. You might feel anxious in close relationships, overly responsible for others’ moods, or wary of trusting anyone fully. You might carry a sense of shame, even though you can’t point to anything “that bad.”

If you sense that your struggles with anxiety, self-doubt, or intimacy trace back to painful relationship experiences, therapy can help you understand and transform those patterns.

You don’t have to keep managing alone or pretending you’re fine when you’re not. Together, we can create a space where your emotions make sense, your story can unfold safely, and new ways of relating can begin to take shape.

This is the slow, real work of healing: learning that safety, connection, and emotional attunement are possible.
